H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct
The H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct include not only the rules of the blog, but also the legal information that you need to know and accept in order to post. The Digits ® blog is provided by H&R Block, Inc., and may only be used in accordance with these H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. By using the blog you agree to these H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.
- First and foremost, the most important rule for Digits is to understand and respect the purpose of this blog. We do not allow profanities or other disruptive behavior. H&R Block assumes no duty to pre-screen or regularly review posted content, but the blog will be moderated by an H&R Block editor/moderator who will have the right to refuse to post or remove any posting that they believe violates these H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.
- We will only post comments that are on-topic, relevant and appropriate to the Digits community. Because the blog is moderated, it may take a little time (up 24 hours, or longer over weekends) for your posting to appear; or we may elect not to publish it.
Digits Decorum
- This is not just about us. It is about you. And with this open conversation comes some responsibility on both sides. You are welcome to disagree with people or policies, but keep the tone respectful at all times. Remember that blogs are a dialogue-when they become shouting matches, readers quickly find another forum for serious issues.
- There are a few rules that are critical. H&R Block will not accept any postings that in our judgment:
- are obscene in any way
- promote racism, prejudice, bigotry, hatred, harassment or physical harm of any kind against any individual, group or individual;
- contain nudity, violence or offensive subject matter, or are deemed exploitative in any way;
- include information that you know is false or misleading
- promote illegal activities or conduct that is abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory or libelous; or promote any criminal activity or enterprise or provide instructional information about illegal activities, such as making or buying illegal weapons or violating someone's privacy;
- solicit passwords or personal information from others for commercial or unlawful purposes;
- knowingly introduce viruses, worms, harmful code or Trojan horses on the Internet; or
- involve commercial activities and/or sales without our prior written consent, such as contests, sweepstakes, solicitation of donations, bartering, advertising or pyramid schemes.
H&R Block Associates
- Welcome to Digits. We're glad you are here. Remember, though, that this blog is not a replacement or alternative channel for associates to raise employment or business issues.
- Do not disclose sensitive, proprietary, confidential, or financial information about H&R Block or its clients. In short, anything that you don't want to see on the front page of the New York Times.com, Washingtonpost.com or in an e-mail to all of H&R Block's associates and/or clients should be kept off the blog. We ask that you continue to use appropriate internal channels to deal with H&R Block business, personnel, HR-related information, and other issues.
- All associates agree to abide by the rules of the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct. Bloggers should comport themselves online with the same decorum and respect on the blog as they do in the office.
Copyright
- You must not post any material that is copyrighted unless (a) you are the copyright holder, (b) you have written permission of the copyright owner to post the material on their blog, or (c) you are sure that the use of any copyrighted material is permitted by the "fair use" legal doctrine. We will delete any posting that we believe may violate the copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights of any person or organization.
Privacy
- In our business, privacy is critical. That goes for our tax offices, online and software preparation programs and, yes, the Digits community. We deeply respect and will protect your privacy. But we have a few requirements.
- You must provide your first name, last name and email address when posting a comment. This protects the community by helping to deter automated submission of a posting.
- This blog does use a temporary cookie that expires at the end of the session. The cookie will not contain any personal information other then what you provide in your posting.
- We don't want you to post any personal information that you wish to keep private. Digits is a public place. We may delete any posting that we believe could possibly violate the privacy of any other person, group or organization.
- If you choose to subscribe for email alerts you will need to provide your email address, which is subject to the H&R Block Terms of Service and Code of Conduct for FeedBurner, the third party service email alert service provider. We will only use your personal information for the purposes described and to respond to you directly on any issue in your posting that is specific to you.
- Digits is for adults. This blog and the information provided by H&R Block is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we prohibit any child from using this blog or any individual from posting any content directed at children.
- We're based in Kansas City, Missouri. So is this blog. All postings to the blog are transferred to and maintained in the United States, so U.S. rules apply.
Use of Content
- We are here, and we are listening to you. We want your great ideas. H&R Block reserves the right to use blog comments, ideas, suggestions, products or services that are posted on this blog without any obligation to compensate the individual or entity that provided the comment or suggestion.

You agree that all opinions expressed by users of the blog are expressed in their individual capacities, and not as representatives of H&R Block.
