Bottle Water vs. The Environment
I know that, for me, buying organic is often harder than it seems (as my area of New York - the Bronx - doesn't have much in the way of organic). But I can still look for companies and products that have made a step in the direction of becoming more environmentally friendly. This guide from findingDulcinea to socially responsible food [www.findingdulcinea.com/guides.html?topic=/categories/food/socially-responsible-food#1] outlines how to look for products that are organic or environmentally friendly and has some links to companies that will deliver your organic food. My only question is that, if I can't get organic food nearby - is it really worth it for me to have it delivered (via gas guzzling vehicle) to my door? Or, am I better off buying from enviornmentally unfriendly growers? Is the gas use now worth the long term goal of having the environmentally friendly companies succeed later? Or - should I focus on trying to buy from the growers that are located as close to me as possible (regardless of their environmental impact) to save the environment from transportation pollutants?
