I Paid for and d/l'd last years program, filed my taxes, but not knowing i needed the program to re-open the files again, to get the AGI and pin #. I still have the disc, which only asks that I re-purchase it again, just to use the program to open my files....this year, i will use ANOTHER more user friendly tax service, and be sure to save in pdf form my taxes, so i may re-open them at any time....since i have been out of work for 7 months can't afford to keep re-purchasing the same program...and oh yes... if it was on my computer.. that one crashed last year, so its not on my new one.. but saved the file to external storage... just FYI, so anyone doesn't get stuck too...gl ![]() mcteager , 14 Apr 2009 23:43:53 GMT This will be my 2nd time using Taxcut. In short, its a great program. Altho when E-filing my State return (District of Columbia), DC requires a copy of Schedule A, B, and C. When I E-filed for 2007, I got a letter telling me that information was missing. Yep, you guessed it. Schedule A, B and C. Has Taxcut corrected this? Otherwise, it might be better to mail it in. (altho I'd rather not) Thanks. ![]() drwfra , 20 Mar 2009 02:14:48 GMT "Ask a Tax Advisor" suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks!! I used my one free "ask a tax advisor" phone call on Tues night. It said they would call me in 1 hour. Then I got a message saying they couldn't reach me. Wed night I tried to resubmit the question but this time they wanted me to pay $20. I was able to chat with tech support and get a key code so I didn't have to pay. This time the "phone a friend" said they would call me in 4 hours. Nobody called but I again received an email saying they couldn't reach me.
I've used TaxCut for at least the last 5 years but I've had too many problems with the online version and I'm switching to something else next year. (this is the clean version of my comments) ![]() scoutdibs , 19 Mar 2009 12:55:58 GMT I'm floundering in frustration. Somehow, I found a place to sign in and chat online with a TaxCut professional regarding my specific problem. Somehow, the chat session got cut off. My e-mail did have a case number from the chat session, but for 45 minutes I've been trying to figure out where to go to launch another chat session. It is easy enough to find the place to pay $19.95 for tax advice, but much more difficult for me to find the place for free help on how to navigate the program. My problem (navigate the TaxCut program)sounds wimpy but it really isn't. I'm trying to find how to plug in my foreign work/living address to achieve the foreign earned income exclusion. ![]() ParisFarm123 , 4 Mar 2009 12:35:52 GMT I am super frustrated with TaxCut's "Ask a Tax Advisor"!!! I pre-paid the tax preparation fee and then submitted a request for a call-back session yesterday afternoon. It stated estimated call-back time was four hours. I was home all afternoon and nite yesterday but no call. 24 hours later, I receive an email message stating that the Tax Advisor could not reach me. They supposedly made the call at 5:09 pm today but I have been home since 2:30 pm, working and emailing from my computer. I even checked my phone every hour: no missed calls all afternoon nor phone messages. And reception was working fine.
Because they weren't "able to contact me", my credit card transaction was voided (losing out on the discounted price) and it looks like I lose out on my ONE "Ask a Tax Advisor" question. When I try to resubmit my question, it wants to charge me $19.95 for asking the same question.
This is ridiculous!!! I feel like I am getting nowhere and ripped off at the same time. ![]() washingtonDC , 1 Mar 2009 23:54:28 GMT There is a Mac version of TaxCut which I downloaded the other day. I have enjoyed using it on the most part but am having serious problems with the help screen. Every time I click on it, it shuts the whole program down. Now I need to use the "Ask a Tax Advisor" option to get a big question answered and every time I click on it, the whole program shuts down! Customer service didn't know what to do about it - so I'm stuck. ![]() LauraW , 19 Feb 2009 01:27:12 GMT I really just want to know how much the software that comes in the mail costs before I install it on my computer. Why don't you tell me? ![]() Tax Lady , 19 Feb 2009 01:19:25 GMT I have both PC's and MAC computers. The MAC's are used mostly by my children, but, by having access to the MAC's i have found out that TAXCUT won't load on a MAC. TAXCUT is really good software. Block should have a MAC version.
Thank you. Bud Moneymaker ![]() CLARENCE MONEYMAKER , 18 Feb 2009 01:20:23 GMT I have used TaxCut Premium Federal for 2008 at Amazon.com and have installed it now. But I forgot that I have 2 state returns that I have to include this year. How do I add 2 states (no e-file) without having to purchase the Premium Federal again? ![]() friedfolk , 16 Feb 2009 21:27:25 GMT Richard, I checked with our product team and form 8880 did in fact go live on 1/23/09. H&R Block TaxCut ![]() David James , 5 Feb 2009 21:05:23 GMT Will the Feb 11 update include ALL the final federal forms? sorry but i am extremely frustrated that i have to wait an entire week longer to send my taxes!!is this only happening to me??!! ![]() justamom , 31 Jan 2009 20:57:19 GMT Flyerz06 - Thanks for using TaxCut.
I checked with our software product team and yes, TaxCut Premium software does allow you to keep track of investment capital gains/losses that carry over to future years.

H&R Block ![]() David James , 28 Jan 2009 04:28:24 GMT I'm very upset that online software is not updated with all the forms... i've been waiting for form8880 and as of today still nothing. all other site have it. I been with Block sincethe 90's so i dont want to switch. But this is outrages. ![]() misstira , 21 Jan 2009 18:50:40 GMT I have used Taxcut for several years and like it very much. However, this year I sold some stocks for a loss. Does Taxcut Premium Federal software allow you to keep track of investment capital gains/losses that carry over to future tax returns? It sounds like you have to purchase the Turbotax Premier to be able to do that. ![]() Flyerz06 , 20 Jan 2009 21:45:40 GMT I really like this program. ![]() Jose , 15 Jan 2009 01:08:04 GMT Don ... Though you state that you don't e-file, the good news is that we include e-file in our desktop software this year and we did not raise prices to cover the cost. We also include one 'Ask a Tax Advisor' session with an H&R Block tax professional in all our Premium products this year. The 'Ask a Tax Advisor' feature is a $19.95 value. In the prior year, only our TaxCut Premium + State + E-File included the 'Ask a Tax Advisor' session at no additional cost. Thank you for supporting TaxCut ... and a happy return. Best, Denise ![]() Denise Sposato , 15 Jan 2009 00:07:39 GMT RB550998.....
Thanks! All of us working on TaxCut 2008 appreciate your feedback.
Best, Denise ![]() Denise Sposato , 14 Jan 2009 21:04:10 GMT alopacki ....
We did lower the price of our TaxCut Premium + State + E-File by $20, but you are correct, that price decrease is because we removed the state e-file which cost $19.95.If you elect to e-file your state return this year, the price is the same as what you paid last year.
We came to this decision following months of listening to TaxCut users in focus groups across the country. The majority opinion was that people were not happy about paying for state e-file that they were not going to use.
Every year the IRS changes the tax code and we have to build those changes into our federal TaxCut program. For federal e-filing, we make the changes and it benefits all taxpayers.
State returns become more complex because we have to build programs for 43 states, all with different requirements and different ways to e-file the return.
We know that even minor changes create lots of confusion and we must do a better job of communicating those changes in the future (even when they are positive).
Best regards, Denise
![]() Denise Sposato , 14 Jan 2009 21:02:59 GMT I too got home with my new Tax Cut basic federal program only to find that last year my federal program last year was labelled "Premium Federal." I have written to see if this year's basic will do what worked great with last year's "Premium Federal" last year which was also the most economical in 2008 for 2007. I have been impressed with the program(s) in year's past and they have been easy and very thorough. ![]() rhbadger , 12 Jan 2009 17:37:55 GMT Great program true some prices were lowered but I think some have been increased. Further i dont want to e-file but now to use the program I must pay for it. It was much nicer in the past just paying for the state. ![]() Don , 9 Jan 2009 17:54:55 GMT I was very dissappointed to see that a state e-file was not part of the premium package like last year. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has registered this complaint. I have been using TaxCut for the last three years and have found the program very easy to use. ![]() alopacki , 9 Jan 2009 12:07:47 GMT Excellent, with many outstanding features! ![]() RB550998 , 8 Jan 2009 23:56:38 GMT
